Biographical Info
My first exposure to art was Mario “Torero” Acevedo's mural at, what was then, Brooklyn Elementary in Golden Hill. I pursued my love of art academically and administratively. I studied it and advocated for it with grant writing and founding a free gallery for artists in Brooklyn, but not making anything myself. After a life in upstate New York and New York City, I returned to San Diego and rediscovered a love of making art, myself. My studio is the outdoors and my subjects are still life and en plein air. My drive is capturing contentedness and sometimes joy from daily routines and errands. My life goal is to share with everyone, anyone how satisfying and simple painting is when subjects, from life, are placed in contrasting light and thoughtful observation is exercised. Art is for everyone.

Around 1948 or ‘49, I was four or five laying on my back on our lawn in South Gate, looking straight into the sky, I saw patterns filling my vision. Undulating. As I looked they moved, faster and more complicated. Looking higher, the surface of the patterns filled the space between distant blue…

Link (restricted) to original article with images I used to frame a lot. Pastels, digital, and photography seemed to require it. Plain black, silver, or gold gallery style frames. Latter, in my multimedia work, I was able to build the frame into the piece. That said, I recently decided that I needed to frame in…

In the romanticized image of an artist, one often envisions an individual immersed solely in their craft, detached from the mundanities of business and promotion. However, the reality for many emerging artists is quite different. In today’s competitive landscape, artists are not only creators but also their own managers, public relations agents, and much more….
